To start with…..”Hello World”. I just finished my class 12 and before entering a college to pursue my bachelors degree I got about 3 months of free time. So, I thought I could catch up with the blogging revolution.
First off this blog is proudly powered by WordPress, Installed by Installatron. 2.6.1 (The latest version as of). After installing
Wordpress the next question was – Which theme? After searching through the millions and zillions of themes available and many recommendations by friends, I couldn’t find a simple theme to match my tastes and so i decided to work on my own custom theme. I started off with the Dreamworks Redux theme and modified it rather heavily to bring it to the state as is.
And coming to the Wordpress plugins I used, here is a list in case you are interested
- Wp-spamfree (I couldnt use Akismet because my host blocked all outgoing connections)
- Get recent comments
- Miniposts 2 (For the Snippets section)
- Sociable
- Wp-cumulus (Thanks to my friend Santhosh for referring me to the plugin)
- Wp super cache
I didn’t know even a single bit of CSS or PHP before I started to work on my theme. Now, by the time I completed my theme I’m confident enough to write my own valid stylesheets. I fell in love with PHP in the process and I’m currently working towards perfecting it. Not to forget, I also used the amazing Lightbox script by Lokesh Dhakar. Last but not the least I thank my friend Ray|raven for his valuable suggestions regarding the theme.

Nice… I think you have taken a lot of liking to that Ubuntu GDM theme :p
Only one word keeps coming to my mind as I browse through the visuals here – Yumm!
Thats a lot of work you’ve put in here, you’d do really well with a web designing career.
That said, I found two minor issues here (Can’t be the visuals for sure!):
The tab order of the comment form is wrong. After you tab from the Name to E-Mail, the next tab takes you all the way up to the search button and then back to the Website field on next tab press.
The Gallery page’s header link (Abhinandh) is broken (Points to an index.html though..) and if I may have my say, do link the header image always to the homepage. Some people are used to use it as a nav-back-to-home button. Saying so cause you are linking it to the same page as its currently on (Like it links to about when you’re at about page). [Oops: Every other post page changes the header link too, and all the index.html in it makes it fail...]
